Damascus

Pattern-welded damascus is where bladesmithing becomes art. Layers of different steel alloys — typically high-carbon paired with nickel-bearing steels like 15N20 — are forge-welded together, manipulated, folded, and shaped until the maker achieves the pattern they're after. An acid etch reveals the contrast between layers, producing the characteristic rippling, flowing visual that has made damascus synonymous with handmade knives at their most dramatic. Beyond the aesthetics, a well-made damascus billet performs beautifully — the hard carbon layers hold an edge while the tougher layers provide a backbone against chipping. Every piece in this collection is a functional work of craft.
