This Moran bowie XL pairs a swedged Damascus blade with Mayo's familiar bead-blasted titanium framelock, this time with a milled grip groove alongside the single chatter hole. Damascus is pattern-welded steel, built by forge-welding alternating layers and then grinding and etching them to reveal the pattern; historically it let smiths combine a hard, edge-holding steel with a tougher one in the same blade, and today it's as much a mark of the maker's process as it is a finish. Like-new from a private collection, it comes in a Mayo pouch.
